ABOUT CHATEAU KSARA
Founded in 1857 by Jesuit priests in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, Château Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest continuously operating winery and the country’s most important wine institutions. Its history is deeply connected to the development of modern Lebanese winemaking, combining centuries of regional viticultural heritage with French winemaking influence and modern innovation.
At the heart of the estate are its remarkable Roman-era underground cellars, discovered in 1898. Extending for approximately two kilometres beneath the property, the limestone caves provide naturally cool and stable conditions for the maturation and aging of Ksara’s wines.
The Bekaa Valley provides an exceptional environment for viticulture, with high elevation, abundant sunshine, cool nights and diverse soils. Château Ksara has played a pioneering role in introducing and developing international grape varieties in Lebanon, while also maintaining a connection to indigenous Lebanese varieties.
With more than 165 years of winemaking heritage, Château Ksara remains a benchmark for Lebanese wine — a winery built on tradition, elevated by its unique terroir, and driven by a commitment to quality and innovation.
